Carnoustie bathing water samples show no risk to public

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has updated its advice on bathing at Carnoustie after early water quality samples showed no risk to the public.
A sample taken at the bathing water on Thursday, 1st June, showed no impact on water quality and Angus Council will be removing the signs shortly.
Signage was changed on Wednesday, 31st May, to advise against bathing as a precautionary measure after a pollution incident involving organic farm fertiliser. SEPA liaised closely with Angus Council and NHS Tayside.
A spokesperson for SEPA said:
“Following visual checks of the beach and water sampling by our officers, SEPA has confirmed there is no impact on water quality at Carnoustie bathing water and Angus Council will be removing the signs advising against bathing.
“Water sampling will continue to take place throughout the Bathing Season as part of routine testing.
“We would encourage anyone concerned about a potential pollution incident to contact on 0800 80 70 60 as soon as possible or through our online form."
