Equality and Human Rights Impact Assessments (EqHRIA)

Equality and Human Rights Impact Assessments (EqHRIA) are an important mechanism for enabling equality and human rights considerations to be embedded into the policies, practices, procedures and priorities of public bodies in Scotland.

Assessing impact in this way can help SEPA achieve better outcomes by taking account of the rights of individuals whose interests may otherwise be overlooked and improve performance by making sure that action taken is effective and efficient. It also means developing better policies and practices, based on evidence, and being transparent and accountable to our stakeholders.

SEPA is in the process of updating our approach to Impact Assessments by integrating Human Rights and Equality.

We are reviewing our internal guidance and processes to further mainstream Equality and Human Rights in the delivery of our services.

We are compiling a list of EqIA’s that have been carried out in SEPA which are being reviewed and updated into an accessible format. They will be published here as and when each review is complete.
