The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) are aware of an ongoing pollution incident at Aberdeen bathing water due to an earlier power outage at Nigg Waste Water Treatment Works on Friday 25th July.

As Scotland’s bathing water season begins on 1st June, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) continue to monitor and provide information on bathing waters used by communities and visitors across the country.

“Precautionary advice against bathing at Portobello beach was put in place on Thursday 13th July after Scottish Water notified SEPA of an issue with the McDonald Road waste water pumping station that had the potential to impact water quality.

“On Thursday 13th July, we were notified by Scottish Water of an issue with the McDonald Road Waste Water Pumping station in Broughton that has the potential to impact water quality at Portobello West and Central bathing waters.

“Following a routine bathing water sample, SEPA have confirmed an ongoing pollution incident potentially affecting Monifieth bathing waters.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) has updated its advice on bathing at Carnoustie after early water quality samples showed no risk to the public.
