Update on fire at battery recycling centre, Kilwinning - 10th April 2024
Date published: 10 April 2024
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) are supporting a multi-agency response to the fire at a battery recycling facility in Kilwinning, which started on Monday 8th April.
SEPA regulatory officers attended the site yesterday (Tuesday 9th April) and have been working alongside colleagues from our Chemistry Unit today to inspect watercourses and take water samples for analysis. So far visual inspections show no impacts on the water environment.
Our staff continue to work with partner agencies and monitor the situation closely. While we focus on responding to the current situation we urge everyone to follow the advice issued by public partners.
