Discharge to groundwater from a site with one hot tub
This General Binding Rule (GBR) applies to the discharge of hot tub effluent, from a site with only one hot tub, to groundwater.

Rules
The discharge of hot tub effluent, from a site with only one hot tub, to groundwater is covered by General Binding Rules. If you intend to carry out this activity, and you comply with the rules set out below, your activity will be authorised. You don’t need to apply to SEPA for an authorisation.
If you carry out an activity under this authorisation you must comply with the rules. It is an offence if you do not comply with the rules.
If you cannot comply with the rules, you will need a different type of authorisation.
General Binding Rule (GBR) for discharge to groundwater from a site with one hot tub
The effluent must be de-brominated or de-chlorinated and cooled to 20 degrees centigrade or less prior to discharge,
the discharge must not be within 10 metres of any surface water and the effluent must not enter a surface water drain,
where the discharge to groundwater is made via a soakaway, the water table must be at least 1 metre below the base of the soakaway,
the discharge must be made more than 50 metres from a wetland directly dependent on groundwater,
the discharge must not be within 50 metres of any wells, springs or boreholes that supply water for human consumption.
