SEPA continue to attend an ongoing incident at the Lower Melville Wood waste facility, Ladybank, Fife

Friday 22nd May

Our officers continue to visit the site, assessing nearby watercourses for signs of pollution and so far, have observed no impacts.

SEPA’s Airborne Hazard Emergency Response (AHER) Service, chaired by SEPA, has been operational throughout the incident. This group continues to provide guidance to multi-agency partners to inform their public health messaging.

SEPA will continue to work closely with the emergency services and other partners to provide technical and scientific advice where appropriate and ensure any potential impacts on the environment are minimised as much as possible.

Our investigation into the cause and environmental impact of the incident remains ongoing and we are unable to comment any further at this time.
