SEPA statement: Programme for Government proposals on Public Sector Reform and Environment Public Bodies

Today (1 September), the First Minister introduced the new Scottish Government Programme for Government, which includes the intention to create a single overarching environment body for Scotland taking on the responsibilities of some existing public bodies, including SEPA.
Nicole Paterson, SEPA Chief Executive said:
“This afternoon I updated staff on the new Programme for Government introduced by the First Minister and the proposals put forward for the environment sector and what this means for SEPA.
"SEPA has been working towards strategic transformation in line with the ambitions of public service reform, with a focus on the future challenges that may face Scotland’s environment in the years ahead. We welcome the importance placed by the Scottish Government on delivering the best environmental outcomes for Scotland and our communities. We are committed to working with Scottish Government and the other national bodies in the coming months as work to develop this new environment body is taken forward, and to supporting our staff during this period of change. In the meantime, our focus remains on continuing to deliver for Scotland's people, communities and environment."
