Date published: 22 November 2024
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) continue to work together with partners as part of a multi-agency response to a chemical spill incident in Coatbridge.
A spokesperson for SEPA said: "SEPA received reports of a pollution incident on Cameron Street in Coatbridge on 5, 6 and 14 November. We continue to work with partners as investigations are ongoing.
"Our officers visited the site on 15 November and confirmed no visible signs of pollution impacting the water environment. SEPA have received no reports of pollution reaching nearby water courses.
"As Scotland’s principal environmental regulator, SEPA’s remit in relation to this incident covers waste disposal and monitoring and mitigating any potential impact on the environment. NHS Lanarkshire has advised anyone who is feeling unwell to contact their GP or, outwith their GP opening hours, contact NHS 24 for appropriate health advice.
"We would like to thank those who submitted reports and encourage anyone who is concerned about a potential pollution incident to contact SEPA as soon as possible via the Pollution Hotline 0800 80 70 60 or by submitting a form online at sepa.org.uk/report."
