The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have been made aware of an incident of fallen stock being in or near a burn which runs into Ettrick Bay Beach on the Isle of Bute.

Due to the potential impact on water quality SEPA’s bathing water signage at Ettrick Bay has been updated to advise against bathing until further notice.

A spokesperson for SEPA said:

“An officer attended the location and has taken a water sample from the watercourse, but until further notice we are advising against bathing as a precaution.

“We are working closely with other key organisations, especially Environmental Health in Argyll and Bute Council.

“SEPA’s electronic bathing water signage will continue to reflect the temporary guidance against paddling or bathing until we are satisfied there is no risk.”
