The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) have been made aware of a fire at Greengairs Landfill Site, North Lanarkshire.
Wendy Thornton, SEPA’s National Duty Manager said:
“On Sunday 18 August at 20:30, SEPA were notified of a fire at Greengairs Landfill Site, North Lanarkshire.
“SEPA Officers are in attendance, supporting a multi-agency response. We are engaging with the site operator and the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and will continue to monitor the situation and respond as required.
"Residents in the surrounding area are advised to follow SFRS advice to keep all windows and doors closed.
“Members of the public can report potential pollution incidents at sepa.org.uk/report.”
