Global Warning: IPCC makes the case for sustainable business

Scottish inventions have revolutionised the world over and over again – and this spirit of innovation is needed just as much today as we face the realism of the climate emergency, and a narrowing window of opportunity to tackle it.
The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, published on 20 March, has been described by the secretary-general of the United Nations as a "survival guide for humanity". Its stark message is that human-caused climate change is already affecting many weather and climate extremes in every region across the globe.

But the report is also clear that options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change are available right now, requiring deep cuts to emissions to keep the average global temperature below 1.5C above pre-industrial levels.
Scotland has already committed to achieving net zero by 2045, earlier than many other countries, and Scottish businesses have a vital role to play in succeeding in that goal.

Businesses have until 5pm on 14 April 2023 to show how they are taking urgent action to halt the climate emergency. Submit a free application. Finalists will be announced in May before the annual awards ceremony in November.
