Potentially Vulnerable Areas (PVAs) 2028-2034
These are areas where highest flood risk exists now or is likely to occur in the future. They help Scotland to understand and prioritise where work could be of most benefit. They are a vital part of protecting people, properties, businesses, communities, infrastructure, and our environment. The PVAs are determined from the National Flood Risk Assessment and are the building blocks of the flood risk management plans.
The PVAs are updated and published every 6 years. They were first identified in 2011 and were updated in 2018. In December 2024 they were updated again for use in the next flood risk management cycle (2028-2034) after a public consultation.
The public consultation was opened March 2024 for 3 months which involved the public, local authorities, and Scottish Government. A consultation digest summarising the responses received and detailing any changes that SEPA have made to the PVAs based on the responses.
You can find out more on SEPA's consultation pages.
