Flood Risk Management Plans

These are Scotland’s route map for reducing the effects of flooding on our communities. Flood risk management plans are designed to ensure effort to reduce flood risk in Scotland is coordinated. Many organisations are responsible for flood risk management and the plans focus the work of these organisations to where the risk of flooding and benefits of action are greatest. The roles and responsibilities of some of the key organisations involved are set out in these plans.

There is a plan for each of the 14 flood risk management districts in Scotland, which are called Local Plan Districts.

Local flood risk management plans are published by lead local authorities, and they provide more detail on how the actions will be delivered including who will lead them, how they will be funded, when they will take place and how the actions will be coordinated with other organisations. You can find more information on your local flood risk management plan on your local authority's website.
